A frame makes anything a piece of art. A frame adds value whether the picture is a masterpiece from the 18th century or a thrift store oil painting. The frame creates significance. It isn’t art unless it can be hung. It isn’t art unless it’s accessible. The Mona Lisa would be nothing if not for the frame that keeps it on the wall.
